GSC REOPENS WITH A CELEBRATORY BANG!
Rediscover the joy of the big screen in the new normal at GSC and Aurum Theatre with a host of promotions and movies
Kuala Lumpur, 30 June 2020 – Come 1 July 2020, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) and Aurum Theatre will finally reopen its doors to the public after a three-month long hiatus, bringing its brand of enriching cinema experiences back to eager movie lovers across the nation. The reopening will be preceded by enhanced safety measures and precautions that GSC will take as part of its commitment to safeguard the health and well-being of customers. Additionally, there will also be a host of offerings, deals and treats for customers to enjoy in both cinemas with promotions and discounts.
A CONTACTLESS JOURNEY FROM START TO FINISH
In view of safety concerns, GSC will be incorporating operational changes that will provide customers a safe and contactless journey from the moment they arrive at the cinema. These are some of the safety measures that customers can expect when they return to GSC and Aurum:
- Buying of Tickets and Combos Online
During this time, cinema-goers are encouraged to purchase their movie tickets and concessions online as a social distancing measure to avoid queuing at the cinema, as well as to reduce contact where possible. To purchase tickets and concessions online, movie-goers can use the GSC Mobile App (available on Android and iOS) or visit GSC’s website at www.gsc.com.my. By purchasing in advance online, customers can also go cashless with various payment methods available to ease their purchasing journey.
- Digital Declaration Forms for Contact Tracing
When movie-goers arrive at GSC or Aurum to catch their favourite movie, they are required to scan a QR code at the entrance and complete a digital declaration form. In the absence of a smartphone, customers may fill out a log book manually. This will enable the collection of personal data for contact tracing purposes and is managed in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
- Temperature Checks
Additionally, all guests will be required to have their temperature taken before admission into the cinema premises. Guests with temperatures 37.5 degrees Celsius or higher will not be allowed into the cinema and will be reimbursed accordingly if they had purchased a ticket online prior. In accordance with the official standard operating procedures (SOPs) by the National Security Council (NSC or Majlis Keselamatan Negara, MKN), patrons aged 12 and below or those above age 60 will also not be allowed admittance into the cinema halls.
- Collect, scan, & enjoy the movie!
Upon entering the cinema, customers who have purchased their food combos online may collect them at the concessions counters and admit themselves into the hall by scanning their ticket’s QR code at the auto-gates. If an auto-gate facility is not available, movie-goers simply need to show a steward the ticket for admission. Customers are advised to sit according to their seat numbers in the hall.
ENSURING THE SAFETY OF OUR CINEMAS
As our customers’ health is our top priority, GSC is also implementing enhanced cleaning and safety measures to give cinema-goers a peace of mind. Customers can rest assured that all amenities, facilities, and public spaces have been properly cleaned, sanitised, and cared for to provide a safe and worry-free cinematic experience.
- Regular Cleaning
Prior to reopening, every GSC and Aurum Theatre location has undergone a thorough cleaning of all its spaces, halls, and facilities including restrooms, e-kiosks, countertops, door handles, lift buttons, handrails, and escalators, among others. Sanitisation of these frequently used amenities will continue to be carried out regularly even after reopening. Additionally, hall seats will be disinfected and wiped down after every show.
- Social Distancing and Crowd Control
To ensure that customers can maintain a 1-metre social distance from others, queue markers will be placed throughout GSC and Aurum to enable patrons to easily keep their distance from others. This will be placed at Box Office ticketing counters, e-kiosks, and concessions counters, leading up to the halls. Adjoining facilities such as sinks, urinals, and e-kiosks will also be closed during this time to enable the 1-metre social distancing requirement.
Crowd control will also be implemented in common areas to prevent over-crowding, as well as to ensure that customers are able to adhere to the queue markers.
Furthermore, cinema halls will implement gap seating with audiences seated one chair apart from others on the left and right, as well as front and back. This is also extended to social spaces including cafés, restaurants, and Jin Gastrobar, with diners seated at least one table or seat away from the next patron.
- Best Practices for Employee Health
To ensure that our employees are healthy and fit to serve the needs of our customers, regular temperature checks will be conducted before all staff begin their shifts. Additionally, the wearing of face masks will be enforced to ensure that our employees are well-protected to serve. While guests are not required to wear a mask, they are recommended to don one whenever they are out and moving around public areas.
- Access to Alcohol Rubs and Sanitisers
Cleanliness and hygiene are key during this time, and both GSC and Aurum will have hand sanitisers placed throughout the cinema for customers to use. These hand sanitisers will be placed in many common areas including the Box Office ticketing counters, concessions, and checkpoints.
GREAT VALUE AT YOUR FINGERTIPS
To celebrate our reopening, GSC will have a host of promotions for customers to enjoy when they come back to the cinema to rediscover the joy of the big screen. These promotions are also available for browsing on your smartphones or via the GSC Website, so audiences can learn more about these deals before making a purchase online.
