If you have not gone to watch this movie, I wonder which planet you are in right now, please go and get your tickets now. This movie with the screenplay set not too far into distant future is probably going to be one of Steven Spielberg’s most iconic movies. It has most of his works all in a single sci-fi adventure film, with tons of hidden Easter eggs along in it. If you are a movie buff, this is right up your alley!
“Ready Player One,” is based on Ernest Cline’s bestseller books of the same name, and Spielberg literally took this one to the sky by bringing it to life. It not a movie where only the young will get it but anyone that has been through the evolution of life would most likely find this movie epic with awe! If you don’t, then you would not be reading this website portal on movies! It is also relative in today’s times.
Let’s get back to this epic world; It starts off with the movie being in the year of 2045, where it is in chaos and everyone is looking for an escape from reality in this virtual world called the Oasis. The creator of this virtual realm is James Halliday ( Mark Rylance ), who died and is willing to pass off his entire fortunes and total control of the Oasis to anyone that is able to solve his three challenges and get the elusive digital Easter Egg. The hero of the movie is Wade Watts ( Tye Sheridan ), a seemingly nerdy teenager that is able to find the first clue in the first challenge which happens to be an all out race. In the trailers, one would have already seen the car that he is driving which is from the ‘’Back to The Future” DeLorean, that has the iconic front moving beam lights from K.I.T.T. of Knight Rider. Why do that? Well because they can! And you have to look at it closely, as this entire movie would constantly have Easter Eggs, everywhere!
There are lots of hidden Easter eggs in this movie, that will keep your eyes wide open. The movie is very entertaining, certainly brings back lots of memories of iconic movies, games, trends, and pop culture of the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Just how good of a movie is this movie or is it just a hidden trove of Easter Eggs. Well to begin with, the scenes where the movie is shot without CGI, the actual scenes were shot in original film reels, and for the part of the CGI digital parts, that was done digitally. We reckon Steven Spielberg wanted to retain some originality of a production of a real movie back in the day. That is how good, of a movie it is. Not only it has the signboard of the movie Cocktail on the top left of the house when Wade was getting ready to be ‘’Buckaroo Banzai’’ on his date, it is the precision that this movie has gone into the details to make it ever so perfect. We were just showing off our ability of spotting hidden Easters in this movie. There are hundreds in this one, we have not found them all yet.
There is no one description to say how great this movie is, but do watch it, and many more times over. This is to ensure that you do not miss “Hello Kitty” walking along with “Keropy” in the Oasis Lobby. Yes, characters from the famous Sanrio Japanese company was inside there too making a slight appearance, including Ryu – Street Fighter, Freddy Kruegger, Blanka – Street Fighter, R2D2, Big Foot Monster Truck, Chucky – Stephen King, and many others. Do not miss the start of the movie, as in the first few minutes, and if you have kids are watching it with you, they will recognize the game called Minecraft!
We will not tell you how this Sci-Fi movie starts or ends, but this is one movie that will forever be remembered for a long time to come. It somehow rewinds us all back to the times where cinemas had chalk written ticket stubs, and where one has to line up to buy an actual movie ticket. A perfect 11 movie, well done Steven Spielberg, we are really waiting for the sequel and please make it soon as we can’t really wait for it! – mM.
